complete kit to make a 100% wool penny rug.Our wool teacher, Geri, put together this complete kit for "Old Glory" three colors of 100% felted wool and three skeins of DMC floss All you need is your favorite needle, sit back relax and have fun making your own penny rug Dating from the mid 19th century, penny rugs were traditionally made from felted wool (i.e. the wool was washed to shrink it). And despite their name, they were not used on the floor, but as decorative table rugs or wall hangings. The "penny" comes from the coins used as patterns for the circles |
